Testimonial – Gloucestershire Constabulary

The work of Oscar Kilo has been instrumental to our Wellbeing efforts in Gloucestershire.

Strategically, their resources and guidance documents (including STRICT, workforce prioritisation guidance), have helped us to develop our local strategies and delivery plans. In a crowded wellbeing market, these tools have helped us to understand what to prioritise, and to feel assured that our services remain firmly grounded in evidence based practice.

At a wellbeing delivery level, the suite of resources available from Oscar Kilo, such as the Better Sleep Toolkit, Nutrition for Wellbeing, and Family Life resources, have helped us to work more efficiently by limiting the number of resources we need to develop ourselves. We have embedded resources on our own Wellbeing Portal to make them easily accessible to the workforce from our intranet page, and included components of these evidence based tools in our new officer training and team wellbeing inputs. The OK9 dogs and Wellbeing outreach vans have helped us to elevate the profile of wellbeing in Gloucestershire Constabulary, and served to facilitate greater engagement with the workforce.

The conferences and practitioner networks are supporting sharing of best practice, and we are starting to develop systems of standardise practice through engagement with these groups. There is always so much to do, and these networks are really helpful in reducing duplication and tapping in to the collective expertise held across policing nationally.

I have found Oscar Kilo, including their senior leadership, to be exceptionally responsive and helpful also to adhoc requests for advice, support and feedback. For example I have shared our local strategic documents, and received both advice and encouragement which help us to know we are on the right track and feel motivated to keep going.
